How the CPSA‑F Examination Works
The CPSA‑F® examination lasts 75 minutes (for non‑native speakers: +15 minutes according to iSAQB® regulations) and consists of approximately 40 multiple‑choice questions. To pass the exam, you must achieve at least 60% of the total score. Below, you can download sample exams and the examination rules.

Examination Procedure and Certification
The examination is not conducted by actIT, but by accredited, independent certification bodies that administer and evaluate the test. The results are usually provided within one to two weeks. Upon successfully passing the examination, you will receive the “Certified Professional for Software Architecture – Foundation Level (CPSA‑F®)” certificate.
This certificate serves as an internationally recognized proof of your expertise in the field of software architecture, but it is not an official professional qualification. If you do not pass the exam, you have the opportunity to retake it multiple times and at short intervals.
Online Examination
Using your own PC from home!
Directly after the on‑site training
On site at the training provider (e.g., actIT Academy) on the last day of the training. In paper form or using a tablet PC.
Public Examination
Dates can be requested and booked directly with the certification bodies.
Examination in Test Centers
Examinations can be taken worldwide at the test centers of PEARSON VUE and PROMETRIC.
How to Prepare for the CPSA‑F Examination
The best preparation for the CPSA Foundation Level (CPSA‑F) examination is attending the corresponding training. You can choose between an online training, which you can conveniently complete from home, or one of our on‑site trainings. In both formats, all exam‑relevant topics are covered theoretically and practically, ensuring you are optimally prepared for the exam.
For participants with practice‑oriented prior knowledge, exam preparation can also be supported by the book “Basiswissen für Softwarearchitekten”. This book follows the iSAQB standards and is specifically tailored to the examination. It provides valuable information to help you prepare effectively for the exam content. For this reason, all participants of the CPSA‑F training at actIT automatically receive the e‑book in addition to the training materials.
