About the Strategy Mapping Workshop with Wardley Maps

The workshop provides an introduction to Wardley Maps as a method for strategic planning in IT environments. By visualizing the strategic situation, strategy mapping helps challenge assumptions and validate them within the team. The workshop is designed for strategic decision-makers, business analysts, Scrum Masters, software architects, software developers, and system owners — without requiring any prior knowledge.

In our SOA‑T training module, you will learn about the technical aspects of service-oriented architecture for medium-sized and large systems. You will gain solid knowledge of relevant technologies, service design, and the tools that make an effective service-oriented IT architecture.

Learning Content and Practical Application

Participants learn in a hands-on manner how to create their own Wardley Maps and use them for strategic decision-making.
After an introduction to the fundamentals of Wardley Maps, advanced concepts and strategies are explored in depth.
Using the Strategy Cycle, the maps are further developed over multiple iterations. Participants gain a deeper understanding
of the evolution of components and how teams can be optimally structured to place the right capabilities in the right areas.

At the end of the workshop, advanced techniques are covered, such as the roles of Pioneers, Settlers, and Town Planners,
as well as the concepts of Peace, War & Wonder. In addition, participants learn how to efficiently structure and
decompose complex maps.
